American Idol Rewind Launch Party

Imagine a high school reunion where everyone can sing. And that was the American Idol Rewind launch party last night at the very hip Spider Club in Hollywood. American Idol Rewind? is a brand new show that will re-air Season One in a whole new way, including never-before-seen auditions and current interviews with some of the contestants. The Rewind party was a veritable Whos Who? in the American Idol world, attracting such former Idols as Kimberly Caldwell, Anthony Federov, Vonzell Solomon, Mikalah Gordon and many, many more! The success of many of the former Idols is astounding, with most of them having completed one or more albums and some landing TV roles and correspondent jobs. More than talking about their careers, though, they seemed concerned with getting inside and catching up with each other. Brian Dunkleman, co-host with Ryan Seacrest during that first season, walked the American Idol Blue carpet as well. Hes actually the voice for American Idol Rewind despite leaving the show after that initial year. The reunion continued inside, with the Idols dancing, chatting and taking pictures with one another, all the while paying tribute to Justin Guarini. Guarini, Season Ones runner up to pop superstar Kelly Clarkson, performed numerous songs, many of which were off his new album. With a big smile on his face, Justin performed while calling out old friends names throughout the concert. Undoubtedly, the American Idol alumni had a fantastic evening celebrating the launch of American Idol Rewind this coming weekend! Check out photos from Season 1!

JPL Creates His Own Style

Jon Peter Lewis, also known as 'JPL' by his enthusiastic fans, will release his eagerly anticipated debut album on November 7th, 2006. The long awaited record, "Stories From Hollywood," has been in the works for over a year and features all original songs. From the moment Jon stepped out onto the American Idol stage he was anything but typical. His unconventional performance of "A Little Less Conversation" captured the hearts of millions and easily ushered him in as a top ten finalist. Following Jon's successful run on Idol, he continued down an unconventional path by turning away offers from producers who wanted to create an image he wasn't comfortable with. Instead, Jon decided to step aside and take the time to develop his own music and unique style. "Looking back, it would have been a lot easier to jump into one of the offers handed to me, but it would have been a mistake to try and be somebody I wasn't. My heart just wasn't into being a ballad singer or creating a teenybopper image. I've always felt more comfortable with a rock edge to my music and I wanted to develop that sound. It's been a long and challenging road over the last two years, but well worth the wait." The mix of rock and soulful pop on the album is proving to be the perfect style for Jon's superb vocal range. Elton John has praised JPL for his exceptional voice, admiring his "great pitch and phrasing." Jon continues to be a frequent guest of radio and television, most recently embarking on a radio tour across the country. Jon, who also plays the guitar, is currently performing with his band and making final plans for a nationwide tour.

Kellie Pickler Debuts First Single

NASHVILLE, TN " A self diagnosed shoe addict, 19 Recordings/BNA Records artist and American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler strolls to radio with her debut single, Red High Heels.? And, as co-writer on the song, being able to talk about it is good therapy. The single is available beginning Wednesday, September 13th. Recording the album in between American Idols Live! Tour 2006, Kellie and producer Blake Chancey (Dixie Chicks) are putting the final touches on the music, which includes several songs that she co-wrote. Its really good for you, its not like candy, it wont rot your teeth,? she laughed. On recording the album, one of her favorite memories came during the first session. This guy walks in the door and I looked over my shoulder and quickly took a second look. I was so excited when I realized who it wasit was Kenny Chesney! I couldnt believe that he was standing next to me! It was so weird because just last year I went to one of his concerts and after his show I remember going home and calling my friend and telling her that after seeing Kenny on the stage that night, I knew that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,? Kellie recalls. With the Idols tour wrapping up on September 24, Kellie can devote her full attention to promoting the album, shooting her first music video and of course, shopping for shoes. Clay Aiken News

The White House last week announced that Clay Aiken will be one of 12 people that the President intends to appoint to the Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. In other news, Clay's new album debuts on Tuesday, September 19th and is titled, "A Thousand Different Ways". The project, Aiken's first outing since 2004, combines 10 cover versions of well-known songs from the '70s, '80s and '90s with four brand-new songs. For Clay, the new album's title has multiple meanings. "This is an album of love songs," he explains, "but they are about all different kinds of love. Romantic love, Friendship, Unconditional love. There are a thousand different kinds of love; a thousand different ways to tell someone you love them. And, on top of that, since so many of these songs are covers, it's realistic to say that many of them have been or could be sung a thousand different ways."
