Jasmine Trias Hits it Big
"What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas!", but for this smart, sophisticated star, Las Vegas will not be enough, so she will be making some waves that will travel world wide. Jasmine Trias will start a residency at The Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas in February with The Society of Seven. Jasmine's schedule for performing at the Flamingo starts on Feb. 15 and will run until March 21st - 2007. Her shows are Wednesday through Sunday.
Her eagerly awaited self-titled album “Jasmine Trias” was released in July of 2005. This CD introduced an edgier, rhythm based blues sound, which truly showcases her enormous talents. Her single "Excuses”, soared to number one in Asia, and "Sexy Boy”, with its playful, relaxed grooves, courts fans with her smooth, soulful voice. Gaining national recognition, this album, and its Filipino-American crooner, is Hawaii's newest rising star. Trias’ hit single "Excuses”, rose to # 1 on the Urban, Hip-Hop, and R&B Internet Web radio Stations, The Get Down Lounge’s Top 12 @ 12, two weeks before her eagerly awaited CD release. Better than that, two weeks prior to the official street date, three songs from Trias' CD: "Excuses”, "Sexy Boy”, and "All I Need”, were in heavy rotation state wide on many of Hawaii's most important Pop and R&B stations. The CD sports 14 magnificently produced songs, written by Multi-Platinum industry leaders like, Diane Warren,Vincent Herbert and Sean P. "Diddy" Combs.
This Pinoy-American Idol is still fascinating her listeners, in the U.S. and in the Philippines, with her amazing renditions of songs with wholly Tagalog lyrics. Her album cuts entitled "Sana Lagi", and "Kung Paano”, were penned by OPM expert Vehnee Saturno. Both songs are currently enjoying wide airplay on various FM stations and music channels, as well as the album’s first single, the upbeat "Lose Control”. The 14-track CD has already achieved Gold Record status in Asia, with Jasmine recently receiving an award at the ABS-CBNshow.
Jasmine’s post-Idol success in Asia has been remarkable and has led to endorsements for McDonald's, Bench clothing, Smart communication, and Hapee toothpaste.
Her continued success in the Asian market is unstoppable, and she is sure to gain as much success in the U.S. as she has in Asia.

Daughtry’s CD No. 1 on the Charts
As Fred Bronson reports in his Billboard "Chart Beat" column, "a surge in sales carries "Daughtry" (RCA) by the band named after Chris Daughtry to No. 1 on The Billboard 200." According to the national charts compiled by the Billboard Information Group, it is the 110th No. 1 for the "American Idol" franchise. As Bronson goes on to report, "Daughtry rewrites chart history, as he becomes the first 'Idol' finalist not to finish in the top two spots to have a No. 1 album on The Billboard 200." The only other singers from American Idol to have No. 1 albums on The Billboard 200 are Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Daughtry is also rising to the top in the digital world, as the CD returns to No. 1 on Top Digital Albums for a second cumulative week. When Chris Daughtry's band topped this chart in December, he gave "Idol" its 108th No. 1. Carrie Underwood's album is also experiencing quite a resurgence. As Billboard's Bronson reports, "'Some Hearts' may have peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200, but this week it returns to No. 1 on Top Country Albums for a 21st non-consecutive week in the penthouse. That means 'Some Hearts' has spent time at No. 1 in three consecutive years: 2005, 2006 and 2007."

PEOPLE Gets Personal With Katharine McPhee
With her self-titled CD dropping on January 30th, Katharine McPhee wants people to know that who we saw on American Idol isn't necessarily who she is. As she dishes to PEOPLE Magazine in their upcoming issue, "I think I came off aloof and kind of dry [on Idol]. When people meet me they are like, 'Wow, she's pretty normal.'" She also reveals that she wasn't trying to win the competition as much as just get through it and stay healthy. As has been revealed in the media, Katharine was secretly in recovery from bulimia during the show.
While she might have the qualities that go into the making of a diva, she tells PEOPLE that she's actually quite down to earth and conscientious about her money. Her debut CD will also shock some, as it won't have the "power ballads" that she knows that most people are expecting. Instead, she chose to follow her own musical tastes (funk, pop and dance). She even jokes with PEOPLE about excluding "Over the Rainbow" from the CD, saying "I'm 22, and that song aged me like 40 years!"
Katharine was also very open with PEOPLE about what attracts her to her boyfriend, Nick Cokas, who is actually nineteen years her elder. "He's really smart," says McPhee. "We love to create things together." And create things they have. They co-produced a play that garnered stellar reviews at New York's Fringe Festival last summer. She goes on to tell PEOPLE that they are not living together, but "things are great."
By all accounts, the article in PEOPLE shows that Katharine is in a really good spot in her life right now. On top of the release of her CD, she is feeling comfortable with herself and her body. As she revealed to the magazine, "I eat whatever I want-like last week we went to Cabo and I ate like 30 pounds of chips and guacamole!" "But I put on my jeans this morning and they still fit!"
To read the full article, pick up the edition of PEOPLE Magazine, which hits shelves on Friday.
Starting Tuesday, you can download all the singles off Kat's first album or you can get her versions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "My Destiny" today in our Downloads Store.
