Elliott Yamin will release his debut album on March 20. The album will be released on Hickory Records through RED Distribution. Elliott worked closely with his music publisher, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, on the writing and production of the album, and the two parties will similarly cooperate in the marketing of the project.
"This is an ideal situation that enables Elliott to have real creative and marketing input over the music that he produces," manager Jeff Rabhan said. The deal will also allow Yamin "to participate as a meaningful partner in the album's financial success," Rabhan said.
"I'm excited to get my music out to my fans, and I'm thrilled to be back in the studio working on original music," Elliott said.
"We are very happy to help Elliott achieve his vision and bring his music to his strong fan base,” said Danny Strick, President, Sony/ATV Music Publishing. “This project is a natural development of our role as a modern day publisher, helping our writers to reach the broadest audience."
Elliott ’s first single, “Movin’ On”, will be available on all digital service providers by February 13.
He’s also planning a solo tour for spring/summer 2007.

Catching Up With Jon Peter Lewis
Jon Peter Lewis is loving life right now, writing most of his own songs, touring the U.S., and serving as a panelist for MTV.com’s new program, “Idolized.” His album, aptly named “Stories from Hollywood”, is available on itunes and most other online distribution companies. He’s extremely proud of the album and, in particular, loves that he was able to incorporate a number of different musical styles into one CD. According to JPL, it’s part “pop rock”, part “folky”, and even a bit “John Mayer’ish.” The album consists of all the songs he has worked on since he was on the third season of American Idol. In fact, he wrote one of the songs, “Turn to Grey”, while on the American Idol tour just after the season ended.
JPL doesn’t try to distance himself from the show that has allowed him to live his life as a full-time musician. While he definitely tries to differentiate himself with his unique musical style, he recognizes that being known for being on the number one show in America is a good thing. The exposure has given him the opportunities that he has now, and he’s not about to bite the hand that feeds him. One thing he did have to fight, however, while on the show was comparing himself to his fellow Idols. Having been a contestant during a season with the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia, JPL found that measuring himself next to others was mostly detrimental. On the other hand, he also thinks that this very thing might have helped him in the long run. It forced him to become more introspective, which helped him to enhance his music.
JPL has also noticed a distinct difference in the way his music is viewed outside of American Idol. When on the show, he felt that the entire world took on the role of music critic. He finds that when he performs now, people are there for pure enjoyment. They don’t care about the pitch of his singing voice, but rather the vibe that they are left with after hearing his music. He certainly embraces that change. He doesn’t really have much preference when it comes to venues, however. While he loves to perform in smaller venues to connect with the audience, he also enjoys and finds himself more relaxed in front of a larger audience, calling it a more “faceless” experience.
As far as music inspirations go, JPL is an old soul. He loves the more classic rock ‘n roll, including everything from The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix to Al Green and Marvin Gaye. However, he doesn’t discount some of the more modern influences, including John Mayer, Elliott Smith, and Ben Folds.
It’s hard for someone as busy as JPL to find time for outside interests, but he is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys mountain biking and skiing when the opportunity arises. He also calls himself a “video game freak” and takes advantage of that whenever possible as well.
Surprisingly, American Idol still plays a fairly large part in JPL’s life. Being able to offer the insider perspective on the show, he’s been booked to be part of a panel on MTV.com’s “Idolized.” While he enjoys talking 'Idol', JPL is really looking forward to pursuing his own passion for music further. You should look for him to be touring some time this summer.

Statement from Special Olympics
"Much has been said and written in recent days about the treatment of Jonathan Jayne, an American Idol contestant and former Special Olympics athlete, during his appearance before judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson that aired last week on the Fox Network.
"While polite isn’t a word one would normally associate with Cowell and company, a viewing of the episode in question shows that the judges were in fact gracious and very encouraging to Jayne during his rendition of "God Bless America." At one point, Abdul commented admiringly about Jayne’s spirit and advised him to "Always believe in yourself."
"Whether on the stage of American Idol or on the field of competition for Special Olympics, people with intellectual disabilities don’t want to be pitied. They want to be judged for who they are and appreciated for what they can achieve. American Idol should be commended for providing Jayne with the same opportunity to succeed as any other contestant.
"At the beginning of the audition Cowell asked Jayne if he thought he could win. "I have an amazing personality and I think I can," responded Jayne.
"Jonathan Jayne may not be going to Hollywood this round, but he’s demonstrated that he’s a winner by having the courage to follow his dream—on American Idol, in a Special Olympics competition or wherever he chooses to give his best."
The preceding was posted on the Special Olympics website.

Kelly Clarkson Teams Up With NASCAR
Kelly Clarkson will soon be showing her racing stripes in the biggest partnership NASCAR has ever made with a music artist, the sports franchise announced Thursday. "Anyone who knows me knows I'm a race fan and love NASCAR," the former "American Idol" and Grammy-winning singer said in a NASCAR press release "I look forward to hanging out with the fans, drivers and the entire NASCAR community." Kelly will be "integrated into all aspects of NASCAR," including television spots, charitable events and NASCAR's awards dinner in New York City in December, NASCAR said.
The deal kicks off with Clarkson headlining the Nextel "Tribute To America" concert airing live on Fox just before the Daytona 500 in Florida on Feb. 18. During the appearance, Clarkson will film a 30-second NASCAR spot for TV featuring a new song from her upcoming third album. She will also serve as a spokeswoman for the fourth annual NASCAR Day on May 18, 2007.

Bucky Hits No. 57 on Billboard’s Country Charts
American Idol alums are sure making their mark on the Billboard charts, particularly when it comes to country music. As Fred Bronson reports in his Billboard "Chart Beat" column, Bucky Covington enters Hot Country Songs at No. 57 with his first single, "A Different World." Bucky is also the fifth Idol to appear on this chart, following Kelly Clarkson, Josh Gracin, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler. As Fred goes on to state in his column, "that's one from season one (Clarkson), one from season two (Gracin), one from season four (Underwood) and two from season five (Pickler and Covington)." While country music almost seems to be the most popular way to go on American Idol these days, it hasn't always been very prevalent on the show. As Bronson tells us, season three did not produce any "chart-worthy" Idols in country music, although it is the season with the most charted finalists (seven). With the quick success of Bucky's debut, he puts season five in second place with six. According to Bronson, Bucky is the 26th American Idol singer to appear on a Billboard chart.
