American Idol has certainly come full circle with its success on The Billboard charts.
Kelly Clarkson had AI's first #1 on the charts with her finale song, "A Moment Like This". Nearly four years later, she also nabbed AI's 100th #1 with her single "Walk Away," which, according to Billboard, topped the Hot 100 Recurrents Chart the week of August 12, 2006. Just over two years later, American Idol has surpassed the 200 mark. AI's most recent winner,
David Cook, has already had three songs inside the Top 20 in the mere 4.5 months since taking the title. His current single, "Light On," debuted in the Top 20, with his finale song, "The Time of My Life," opening at #3 and "Dream Big" bowing at #17.
