‘American Idol’ Moving Forward Without Paula Abdul

Paula AbdulOnly a few days after her departure, Fox is already planning an 'American Idol' without Paula Abdul.

According to USA Today, 'Idol' is expected to keep four judges on the panel. This means Paula is likely to be replaced, said Fox chairman Peter Rice.

In the meantime, Rice said the seven-week audition round will feature a number of guest female judges, including singers Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham.

Is Paula Abdul Really Leaving ‘American Idol’?

Paula AbdulPaula Abdul has threatened to leave 'American Idol' before, and this time it appears to be for real.

According to sources from TMZ, Paula announced her departure on Twitter before she actually told 'Idol' producers. This came after a series of failed contract negotiations, which included two separate offers for Paula to return. Was she seriously that upset by their offers (or lack thereof)? Or was this just another one of her bluffs?

Paula Abdul Quits! ‘American Idol’ Is Ruined

Paula AbdulIt was the tweet heard 'round the world.

Last night, Paula Abdul announced she was leaving 'American Idol' via Twitter: "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL."

Fox confirmed her departure, stating the network was "saddened" but wished her the best. While fellow judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi have yet to comment, host Ryan Seacrest tweeted that he couldn't "imagine the panel without" her.

Wait ... hold the phone, er, Twitter. Is this really happening? Because if Paula truly does not return to 'American Idol,' the show will be ruined. It's done.

Paula is an integral part of the show -- and Fox is stupid to let her go. Here are five reasons why 'Idol' will never be the same after Paula's departure ...
