Happy Birthday, Brandon Rogers!

Brandon Rogers quickly became known as the Idol who was an accomplished backup vocalist, having worked with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.  He just as quickly proved that he could pull off a great solo, with Simon Cowell even calling him one of the best auditioners from Los Angeles.  Unfortunately, just after grabbing a spot in the highly coveted Top 12, Brandon forgot some of the lyrics to "You Can't Hurry Love," and was subsequently voted off the show.  In an interview with Realitytvworld.com after his elimination, Brandon talks about the reactions to his departure: '"Everybody was very supportive.  Every single contestant came at me and told me how good I did, despite the mistake, and they appreciated the fact that I picked up.  It could have been a disaster, but I tried to maintain as much as I could," said Rogers.  "[The judges] all came up to me after I got voted off the other day, and nothing, but positive stuff.  They all told me it was my song choice and it was not my singing, and not my ability."' In the same interview, Brandon explained how AI helped to boost his self-esteem: '"I think this gave me the confidence to seek a solo career.  I've said this before, when you're a little kid, you don't dream of being a background singer.  It's a great job and I love every second of doing it.  But on the same page, I've always wanted to be on that big stage and to get a taste of that is a little too sweet to let that slip away and be relegated to the background once again.  So I'm excited to continue going forward on the solo path."' Since his time on "Idol," Brandon nabbed a guest starring role on FOX's hit show, "Bones," and he released a single, "Broken".  On his MySpace page, Brandon promises some new music, as well as remixes of his old tunes, soon. Happy Birthday Brandon Rogers

Brandon Rogers has known since he was just a child that he would be involved in the music industry in one way or another. What's interesting is the first musical experience that left him wanting more...performing with his school choir and the King of Pop Michael Jackson for the Super Bowl Half Time show in 1993! From that point on, he was completely hooked. He attended the University of North Texas and majored in voice, with a secondary in piano. Interesting tidbit: one of his classmates at the university was Norah Jones! As so many do along the way, Brandon Rogers found himself in a boyband while living in Dallas. They were called the Sons of Harmony, a band that was put together by Kidd Kraddick from a popular radio station in the area. Not every boyband achieves success but, fortunately for Brandon, the Sons of Harmony did just that. They opened for some huge artists, including Destiny's Child. In 2001, the band broke up and Brandon moved back to L.A. to pursue his career in music. As we found out on "Idol," Brandon toured as a back-up singer with some very big names in the industry, including Anastacia, Christina Aguilera, Usher, and he even did the Grammy's with Justin Timberlake! While most would consider this an impressive feat, Brandon was left wanting to focus on himself. In 2006, he wrote and produced an album, and then toured with his best friend Zack Hexum to promote it. This is when he found himself auditioning for American Idol, which led him to a highly coveted spot in the top 12. Unfortunately, Brandon forgot the words to several bars of "You Can't Hurry Love," which ultimately got him voted off the show at a time that many fans considered to be too early for him to go. Brandon should have little to fear, however, as his talent will most certainly grant him a hugely successful and long career in music. He has recently been in the studio working on a number of new tracks. On top of that, Brandon will also be appearing in a guest spot on the crime drama BONES early next year. Interestingly enough, fellow Idol Ace Young will appear in the same episode! Check out this photo of Brandon singing his heart out this past season!
