Happy Birthday Kimberly Caldwell!
Kimberly Caldwell's raspy voice and upbeat personality eased her into an impressive 7th place on season two of American Idol, and her post-Idol life has just been just as successful if not more so. The same year she was on AI, she ended up as a correspondent for Fox Sports' action sports show, "54321." While that show only lasted one season, Kimberly has since made an impressive career out of being an entertainment correspondent and host for the TV Guide Channel. She actually co-hosts "Idol Tonight" with fellow AI alum Justin Guarini, with whom she also has some upcoming performances. She has appeared as a live red carpet correspondent at numerous Hollywood award events, including the Academy Awards, the Grammy's, the People's Choice Awards, the Emmy's, and the Golden Globes. She has also appeared as a guest on several other TV shows, and has appeared in several magazines.
Kimberly has also recently done some acting, with a short stint on the FOX sitcom, "Life on a Stick," and she also has a cameo in the horror film Wrong Turn 2. She is reportedly in the middle of reading scripts for other projects as well.
To boot, Kimberly traveled to 44 cities across the U.S. and Canada with her AI peers at the conclusion of the show. She has made several live appearances of note since then as well, one of them being to sing the national anthem at the NASCAR Coca Cola 600 race.
Kimberly's latest project is a syndicated daily entertainment radio report called "Reality Check," which is in conjunction with the TV Guide Network. She's also been writing and collaborating with other artists and producers in the studio, and hopes to put out an album soon.
Although it's been five seasons since Kimberly has been on "Idol," she admits to becoming nostalgic about it in an a recent interview she did with Lifted Magazine. "Every day, I’m just so thankful that I have great memories to look back on and I’m so proud and honored to have been part of such a popular and well-respected show. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and sometimes I feel like, 'Wow, was that really even me that did that?'" She also credits AI for the recent hosting opportunities she's gotten, which have in turn allowed her to buy a nice house and have her sister come out to California to join her. As she tells Lifted, "I’m so excited I can barely stand it. I never thought that at the age of 25 that my sister and I would be living in Los Angeles, in what may not be a mansion, but in our eyes is the perfect home!"
