Phil and Melinda Join Young People’s Chorus Benefit in NYC
Phil Stacey and Melinda Doolittle will soon be singing for a good cause. The award-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary as an independent chorus with a star-studded benefit concert taking place at Carnegie Hall Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m. The cast of stars will join the choristers on stage to celebrate their momentum into their second decade of bringing children of all ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds together to entertain audiences world-wide. Along with Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey, Tony-winner Christian Hoff and Bobby Spencer from Jersey Boys, CNN's Soledad O'Brien, and reggae artist Maxi Priest will be a part of the event. Among the unique musical numbers on the program will be the premiere of James Taylor's “You Can Close Your Eyes,” which he specially arranged for the chorus to sing on this occasion. To close the concert, a brand new song—part theater, part classical, part rap—will be performed by all 1000 members of the Young People's Chorus of New York City.
Concert tickets for this event are on sale now at Carnegie Hall, so if you're in or around New York City on October 22nd, you can get your American Idol fix while donating to a worthy cause.
